Creature Comforts welcomes Athens Institute for Contemporary Art to the brewery for a special preview of the art gallery’s upcoming fundraiser and fashion spectacle, “Cranial Offerings” (October 19, 7–9:30pm, Live Wire Athens)! This event will feature over twenty artist-made headdresses in a fashion show hosted by local celebrity emcees. Brewery visitors will catch a first glimpse of several of the artist-made headdresses, plus have the opportunity to make their own headdress inspired by the fashion event. ATHICA will also have merchandise for sale, including special sets of letterpress coasters designed by local artists.
The Athens Institute for Contemporary Art (ATHICA) opened its doors to the public in 2002. Fifteen years later, ATHICA remains Athens’ only non-profit art gallery devoted to contemporary art. The gallery provides a place for exhibition, education, and community events about art, specializing in work that is performative, experimental, or socially engaged. Since January 2016, the gallery has been 100% community supported, functioning completely with volunteer help. All donations and proceeds from “Cranial Offerings” go directly to supporting art programming at the gallery.
Tickets for “Cranial Offerings” (which will be available for purchase at the brewery, online, or at the event) are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. For more details, please visit ATHICA’s website or Facebook page.
