Fired Up, Watered Down
On view Tuesday, March 21–Saturday, April 8
This show features five artists who participated in a recent public art project called "Fire Up the Hydrants" in Athens. Organized by the Athens Area Arts Council, twenty local artists were selected to paint fire hydrants across the downtown area. The five featured artists in this show are Lily Swindle, Maggie Baxter, Dan Smith, Sarah Cook, and Sofy Bertioli (a local high school student!).
From the Athens-Clarke County website: "The water that flows from these hydrants is our best defense against house fires. Most of us don't think about how vital water is to our economy, health, environment, and fire safety. By putting a spotlight on the hydrants, we hope to draw attention to the value of water for years to come."
Opening reception on Wednesday March 22 (World Water Day) in conjunction with the ACC Water Conservation Office's Tappy Hour event at the brewery, 5–8pm.
