CCBC Gallery Featured Artist
On view Nov. 1–Nov. 26
Andrew’s paintings focus on the re-presentation of ancient Asian prints and motifs. In the artist’s words, he hopes “to capture the simplicity and elegance of nature and how these subjects were so beautifully captured in the East.”
The various pen drawings on view comprise a series called “High Above and Far Away,” created for the artist’s senior exit show. These imaginative freehand illustrations are “an attempt to capture dreams and hopes into the visual form.”
His paintings on birch panel are a more recent endeavor. This body of work reinvents traditional symbols found in Asian art, melding cultural and artistic conventions with the artist’s contemporary, clean-lined aesthetic.
Andrew studied Graphic Design and Music Business at the University of Georgia. He is an active musician and the music director of a local church. Check out his photography, blog, and artwork archive on his website.
