About the artist:
"I was born on the outskirts of New Orleans in Metairie, Louisiana in 1983. I’ve lived the majority of my life in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and I’ve been interested in visual art and music from an early age. I earned a BFA in Painting from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2005. After graduation, I spent a few years experimenting with painting outside of academia, while also pursuing music in the punk rock circuit. Playing music afforded me the chance to travel the country and encounter many unique experiences, which in-turn fueled my creative process in visual art. During this time I also worked at a military base as a “mock insurgent”, aiding in training scenarios for soldiers being deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. After working for six years as the primary manual screen printer at a tee-shirt shop in Hattiesburg, I decided to attend graduate school at the University of Georgia in 2013. I currently live here in Athens, Georgia with my lovely wife Julia, and our darling dog Debbie Hairy.
I am concerned with telling stories through my work. These narratives have often derived from personal experiences, as well as from works of literature. I work primarily as a painter, although lately my studies as an artist have driven me into synesthetic territory. I am currently studying the relationships between visual art, music, and fiction writing."
