The last couple of weeks have brought on a lot of change here at the brewery! About two weeks ago, we expanded our brewing operation to include 4 new 120 bbl fermenters and one 120 bbl brite tank. Since we opened in 2014, we have invested heavily in operations, with more than $1.25 million dedicated to new production, packaging, and lab equipment. This expansion will allow us to gradually increase brewing production from our current annual capacity of 15,000 bbls up to 23,000 bbls.
With these new tanks, we anticipate production output to reach 18,000 bbls for 2016. We also are hoping to add a fourth brewhouse vessel a little later this year, with the end goal being to brew at a maximum available capacity of 28,000 bbls by 2017. This will help us yield more consistent distribution to our existing markets. (We have no plans to expand our markets beyond Athens & Atlanta at this time - sorry, friends!)
With this production increase, we have already been able to hire two new full-time brewers and additional part-time packaging positions (more on these new folks coming soon). Our Brewmaster himself, Adam Beauchamp, worked to custom design our new beautiful tanks in order to work best in our 13,000 square foot facility layout. We collaborated with Feldmeier Equipment Inc. to size the tanks for a taller and narrower shape to fit our brewery's vaulted ceilings.
