We are excited to announce that our brewery, Creature Comforts, has won an award from the Athens Clarke Heritage Foundation, for Outstanding Rehabilitation at the 45th Annual Preservation Awards. For those of you who have had a chance to make it down to our brewery or who have followed us for a while, you know that we went through a lot of extra work to try and maintain the heritage associated with the wonderful 1940's building that has become our home. There was never a time that we doubted the decision to reclaim the old wood and use it as tables, bar tops, ceiling panels, and wall panels within the brewery, or to expose the original barrel roof, or any number of the other aspects of the original structure that we kept in place. However, there were definitely times that the process of rehabilitation felt daunting, and it is so wonderful to know that those efforts are recognized.
So thank you to the Athens Clarke Heritage Foundation for taking an interest in our brewery and for coming down to see what we have done and for voting to make us one of their award winners. We are honored to win this award amongst all the other great historical preservation examples that were recognized Monday night, and for any of you who don't know what all this hoopla is about . . . it's probably time to come on down to the brewery for a tour and check it out in person
