Amber Ale with Coffee
toffee | coffee | chocolate | berry
The Take Away:
We experimented using whole beans on this batch, and not grinding the coffee. Consequently, the impact is clean, soft and nuanced. The aroma presents more dark flavors like charred wood, bourbon, and caramel, but then it finishes with a pleasant berry note. The flavors follow suit - a strong toffee, caramel, and cola note at first that finishes softly with notes of cherry, blackberry, and fig. For this iteration of Coffee Reclaimed Rye, we used 1000 Faces Gorbota coffee, which is a varietal from Ethiopia that uses a natural process and has a pronounced berry quality.
